Welcoming, listening, solidarity, sharing, respect, discretion and adaptation are the main values of le Roseau.


Welcoming: greeting everyone, with a warm welcome, customized by our volunteers from 7:30 a.m. (8 a.m. during the weekend) to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.


Listening: by listening to the families while they are expressing their joys, hopes, and suffering, and by letting them relax, cry, or laugh without being judged, volunteers help them be more at-ease when they get back to the patient in the hospital. The patient’s morale will also benefit from this, on top of the family presence.


Solidarity and sharing: Le Roseau has limited resources and cannot guarantee its mission without everyone’s participation and good will. The residents may have to share their room with others when they come alone, particularly during busy periods. Residents should make sure that everyone has a chance to take turns doing laundry, watching their favorite tv show, accessing the internet, etc.


Respect and discretion: each resident is to be respected regardless of his/her religion, language or situation. The privacy of the residents and their reasons for staying at le Roseau is to be maintained at all times. These core values are observed by our volunteers and employees.



Isn’t it true when we say “the Reed bends but never breaks”? Listening requires us to take into account the unique characteristics of each situation, in order to welcome each resident in the best possible way while ensuring the overall mission of le Roseau.
